New Year, New Look

Embellish Marketing's new logo featuring a stacked diamond design with a script "em" on top.

It's a new year, and Embellish Marketing has a new look! Thanks to Lindsay at Dwell in Hope for bringing this idea to life and for her patience as I mulled over the finer details of this project. Fun fact: the inspiration for this logo refresh was actually a rejected concept from the last logo refresh we worked on together over four years ago.

Now for some FAQ:

Q. If you're a graphic designer and brand builder, how come you didn't do your own logo refresh?

A. I tried, LOL. I had a vision and worked on it for over a year in my "spare" time. It wasn't quite coming together, which frustrated me and caused me to put the project on the back burner several times. Once I got to the point of REALLY needing this project finished, I knew I had to get out of my own way and bring in someone else who had the time and talent to take the reins. Thankfully, Lindsay was ready to make it happen!

Q. How do you know when your business or non-profit is ready for a new look?

A. When what you're currently using doesn't fit your organization or feel "right" any more. Honestly, I believe it's one part science and two parts intuition. If you don't feel connected to the brand you're building and/or leading, your customers/clients likely won't feel that connection, either. A brand refresh helps bring energy and excitement back into your brand!

Q. What makes a good logo?

A. First, let's be very clear... a logo is NOT your brand. It's just one visual component of your overall brand. Your logo is a representation of your brand - what you want people to remember and feel about your organization. It's used to visually communicate those things. In EM's case, I wanted to convey that this brand serves women in a professional, yet friendly and relatable manner. The colors, shapes, and type in the logo were all intentionally selected to communicate those things... plus additional brand elements that will be revealed over time.

So what do you think, did we hit the mark with this refresh? I would love to hear your feedback!
